Happy Father's Day Daddy!
We had such a fun father's day yesterday! This year was Sean's second father's day and it was fun making this day all about him. Pastor Jeremiah gave a great message this morning about 5 ways for a father to love his family. Here is an outline with verses from his message that I thought I would share for all the Dad's.
5 Ways for a Father to Love His Family
I. By responding to their necessity - I Timothy 5:8; Genesis 2:15; Matthew 7:9-11; James 1:17; James 1:5; Matthew 7:7-8
II. By restraining their iniquity - I Samuel 2:12, 17; 3:13; Hebrews 12:5-11
• He recognizes the potential for discouragement! - Hebrews 12:5
• He reinforces the power of love! - Hebrews 12:6
• He remembers the purpose of the punishment! - Hebrews 12:10
• He rejoices in the final result! - Hebrews 12:11
III. By respecting their humanity - Psalm 103:13-14; Ephesians 6:4
IV. By recognizing their individuality - Genesis 49:28
V. By reinforcing their identity - Colossians 3:21
Its sad and disturbing that media in the world today often makes fun of Dad's, sometimes men in general, either they are portrayed as lazy men that sit around and watch sports, who can't fix anything or they are portrayed as unintelligent and weak while the wife often wears the pants in the family, leading the family, and at the same time complaining and making fun of her husband; this seems to be the stereotype of today's family comedy script... God's Word tells us that the Dad role is designed by God to be unique and important, its a HUGE responsibility, one that requires much sacrifice, hard work, patience, discipline, leadership in all areas, and most important to love like Christ loved. It was nice to hear an encouraging message from Pastor Jeremiah when the world tries to creep in and tear down the family and the role that men play within the family. May we all continue to encourage Dad's whenever we can to fulfill the role that God designed.
One of my favorite photos of Madison and Sean!
I surprised Sean with breakfast yesterday morning while he caught up on sleep- yummy omelets, hash browns and bacon! After church we headed out to Mission Bay to launch Uncle Brent's boat! Sean had been wanting to take the boat out for a few months now but we had been hesitant with taking Madison, mostly because we were not sure she would stay in the boat! HOWEVER!! SHE DID WONDERFUL! I secretly purchased an infant life jacket last week, hoping she would wear it and to our surprise..she loved every minute of the boat ride and sat so calmly on our laps!
Here is our little boat launch..you can see Sea World in the background, we were able to see part of a show from the boat which was really cool and great for Madison!
Our little motor boat :)
The Captain- Uncle Brent
Can't go anywhere without toddler snacks :)
After the boat ride I picked up lunch from Phil's BBQ in Point Loma, some of the best BBQ we ever had, yummy beef and baby back ribs with bean, corn, fries, and baked potato! We love this place and I knew Sean would love some great meat!
.....and of course we had to include the NY Giants into the mix....Brent and I took these photos of Madison to frame for Sean for his office. I found this cute little NY Giants cheerleader outfit online about a month ago!
Go Giants!
Field goal time!
Sean's dream (one of them) is that Madison would grow up to be an NY Giants fan :) So I am trying to help in this department as you can see from the photos! I get major brownie points for this stuff :)
Last year we taught her to raise her pointer finger in the air when Sean and I yelled, "First down!"

Madison had fun helping Daddy open his gifts :) I'm training her to spoil Daddy.
