Lemonade time & other Randoms....

Picture of Lemonade Recipe

Our backyard has a lemon tree and we have TONS and TONS of lemons! Madison, Brent and I had fun picking them today. I took Madison to deliver some to our neighbors to the right of us and Brent is taking some to work and most of them will go toward fresh squeezed lemonade! I made a really simple lemonade with sugar, hot water, lemon juice and more cold water then added strawberries after I smashed them so that they would marinate into the lemonade, its SO GOOD!!! I just might make Lemonade the rest of the month!

My sweet little helper, she was so cute trying to get them off the tree!

"Mommy, I here you go, I got one!"

Madison's lemon basket, too heavy for her to lift though :)

Love my babies, my brown eyed baby boy and my brown eyed baby girl :)

Last weekend we took a trip to San Clemente...we miss it and wanted to scout houses!
We got to see a beautiful sunset and enjoy coconut shrimp on the pier.
We don't know when or where we will eventually buy but praying for God's timing and the right house, the right time and the finances needed for the loan. These next few months will be a crucial time for saving and I know it will go by fast. I can't believe we have already been in P.B. for 5 months!

All Excess is Rooted in Emptiness

I wanted to share a little of my women's bible study this morning. I am blessed to be able to meet with a great group of about 12 ladies every Thursday morning.

So, what is your biggest fear? Is it that you will loose something or someone close to you? Is it betrayal by someone close to you? Deep hurt that you can't seem to overcome? Our lesson today talked about fulfillment, a filled heart that only God can fill. We talked about how sometimes brokenness can drive us to be frantic to strive to fill a void no matter the sin in process. How do we know when we try to fill our void or emptiness with meaningless things? Our hearts after all are deceitful and desperately wicked. We are tempted often. I would say that excess in anything means that something isn't getting filled. For everyone that "thing" we try to put in our bucket to satisfy is different. For some its money, things, alcohol, beauty, social status, career obsession and for others it can even be basically living at church and serving 24/7 so much that family at home is neglected and relationships fall apart. Anything we put above God other than God is considered an idol. So what are your idols? What will you admit is an idol? What do you hold closer to your heart other than God?
The continued search for something earthly to fill our empty places is costly. I've learned that we can never within ourselves get enough. We can't get enough to satisfy us. A big struggle in today's world is consumerism and it can rip our lives to pieces if we let it. Our sinful hearts always want more, but its only Christ that can fill us; only Him that can really satisfy. Christ knows everything. He sees everything and every motive.
We were talking about the woman at the well from John 4:1-18. This woman has had 5 husbands and the one she is living with is not her husband. Christ knows this about her life before she can even tell him. For years, this woman was obviously searching to fill a void no man could fill.  She must have gone through multiple heartache and disappointments in her life yet Christ has compassion and grace on her life by allowing her to see Him and be filled with living water He has to offer her, as well as anyone who will call upon His name and believe.
John 4:24 " God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."
Many were saved through the testimony of this woman at the well. Christ took this woman's life and turned it upside down, giving her a purpose and worship. We can assume that there was no longer a void that needed to be filled in this woman's life based on this woman and her testimony. If God can drastically change her life through her faith in Christ through the Holy Spirit than He certainly can for each one of us if we have humble hearts that desire Him above "things". It fulfills God to fulfill. us. I encourage you to worship God and praise Him for his work in your life so you can Glorify him and be filled by his Holy Spirit which will fulfill you. Let your praise take the place of your desire for excess in your life.

Seattle with Cousins!

Madison met her cousin Annabella Boone for the first time last week! Its great because my 3 Aunts on my Dad's side live within the Seattle/Tacoma area so we were able to see them plus my 4 cousins and their spouses and kids. Madison and I took on a big adventure with my parents and drove...yes drove..to Seattle from Sacramento. We stopped to spend the night at a La Quinta Inn in Grants Pass Oregon. The scenery was beautiful, green and lot's of huge pine trees which were at the time dusted with snow. We were blessed to not have to put on chains...my Dad was so thankful especially, chains can be not so fun! It was cold though and we made it through the Sisques just in time before the roads got icy. We met up with my Mom's Aunt Barbara in Grants Pass for dinner which was fun and gave us a break and rest before getting up the next morning for the final leg of the trip, 6 hours each day. Madison did great! She took both naps in the car, we timed it perfectly leaving after breakfast and arriving for dinner in Maple Valley. It helped that I was able to sit in the back seat with her to give her juice and snacks. I only had to play her new DVD player for an hour each day of the drive which was great!
Here she is to the right enjoying her spaghetti dinner after a long drive the first day! She was a  mess :)
Here she is so relaxed and cozy after her bath in the hotel room. This was the first time she has ever laid still after her bath. She normally kicks and tries to run away before we are able to get her clothes on her!

We had a good idea to stop at the mall the first day of the drive so she could get some energy out!

I love my long vacation in the car! yeah!!!

Here is the view from my Aunt Donna's living room in Maple Valley. They have these huge bay windows overlooking the lake. It snowed the previous night and was so beautiful!!

...and here they are...the cousins meet for the first time!

Cute little heads!

Cuter then cute..grocery shopping time!

Playing back at Kim & Adams house!

Kalub Christmas in Woodland, Granite Bay, Vallejo & Napa

Madison and I flew into Sacramento on December 14th to visit family a little early this year! I barely survived the flight with Madison who wanted to run down the isles but once we landed our trip was so fun and very enjoyable! Sean drove up on December 18th for the entire week so it was fun to spend time with Daddy before Madison and I went on another adventure and drove with my parents to Seattle for 4 days!

This Christmas was really fun with Madison walking around and opening her own presents. She loved the paper more than gifts at times. We had lot's of family and friends to see on our trip and the days seemed busy with something fun every day. We are so thankful to the Lord that we were able to spend Christmas with our families and we always look forward to visiting our old stomping grounds in Nor Cal.
